Derry city is a 30 minute drive from Tammy Lodge. Derry has all the usual things you expect to find in a small city, however for those who are interested in history, Derry city is a place you could never grow tired of. From murals and statues to fine architecture and ancient walls, it trully is a fantastic city to visit. No surprise then that it was named the UK city of culture in 2013 and the next year hosted the All Ireland music festival Fleadh Cheoil.
In the other Direction you have an hour drive to Belfast which again is steeped in history not least the ship building yards which built the Titanic, and now have the Titanic museum in its memory. The open top bus tour of Belfast which goes around all the murals of the troubles in Northern Ireland is a must see for anyone visiting Belfast.
Northern Ireland is famed for the north Antrim coast which lays claims to the Giants Causeway, the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the Bushmills whiskey distillery as its most popular tourist attractions. There are also great beaches along the coast which are worth a visit should you be lucky enough to have dry weather when in the north of Ireland!
If you would prefer activities on your doorstep then Tammy Lodge again can be perfect for you. The Sperrin mountain range provides great hiking, cycling and walking trails, with awesome views all along the way. Cycling has become very popular in recent years and the sperrins are cashing in, as cyclists challenge themselves on long moutain climbs over Sawel mountain. The river Faughan runs just a few hundred metres away from the house, and is known for its good salmon and trout fishing. fishing licenses can be obtained through us if enough notice is given.
